Formed in 2019, Wazalendo Group of Singers (WGS) was established with a vision to use music as a powerful tool for unity, spiritual upliftment, and cultural celebration. The founding members, who were alumni of The University of Nairobi choir, were united by their love for choral music and their desire to serve both God and humanity. The members believed that through their voices, they could ignite hope, spread joy, and speak to the hearts of many. 

From humble beginnings, the group has over the years gained recognition for its renditions of arrangements of traditional and contemporary music, as well as patriotic pieces that celebrate national identity and heritage. What began as a small gathering of dedicated singers has blossomed into a vibrant choral group known for its dynamic harmonies, heartfelt performances, and a deep-rooted commitment to inspiring all audiences through song. Over time, the group’s journey has transcended local boundaries, elevating its status to a global reach.

Wazalendo’s inception was marked by a focus on crafting thematic songs tailored for national celebrations and state events. As the demand for the group’s unique musical style grew, Wazalendo responded by broadening its scope, incorporating more tunes that resonate with a wider audience. Today, Wazalendo Group of Singers continues to uplift souls – one note at a time and remains committed to entertain. The Swahili word ‘Wazalendo’, meaning ‘Patriots’, perfectly encapsulates the essence of the group’s purpose, which has expanded to encompass a celebration of patriotism and a genuine embodiment of the Kenyan spirit in both music and performance.
